The STEEDEN Biliir First Nations Supporter Ball celebrates Indigenous culture, storytelling and connection to Country through a powerful and meaningful design. Featuring original artwork by Sean Kinchela, a proud Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri man, this supporter ball honours Biliir, the Black Cockatoo, a significant cultural symbol linked to rain, land and knowledge passed through generations.
As described by the artist:
“Biliir is the Gamilaroi word for Black Cockatoo. In the artwork you can see the dotted pattern symbolising rain and Biliir’s feather below representing his connection to the rain. The yellow in the middle represents Country. The artwork also forms the Aboriginal Flag colours. Black Cockatoos are known to fly from the mountains towards the coast when rain is coming… As the old stories go, when we see Biliir the Black Cockatoo, we know the rain follows him.”
Finished in Size 5, this officially supported ball is ideal for supporters, clubs and schools looking to recognise and celebrate First Nations culture through rugby league.
