Blak is the range Rachin Ravindra carries, and DSC designed it for the big moments of Test and one-day cricket. The mid swell gives it the same response off the front and the back foot, and the massive edges mean the ball that finds the outer half still carries.

It has the deepest grade ladder of any DSC range, from Players and Pro through eight numbered models (11 to 88), and it is the range to look at first for juniors, with Harrow, Small Adult and junior sizes on the shelf.

Decoding DSC: ranges, models and grades

A DSC bat name has two parts. The range (Blak, Pearla and so on) is the shape. The model after it is the piece of willow that shape was carved from. Within a range the shape does not change from the top model to the bottom one; the willow does.

Grades from DSC's 2026 Australia catalogue. Carry-over stock from last season can be graded slightly differently, so check the product page for the exact grade of the bat you are buying. Highmark carries a spread of grades in each range rather than every model, so you will find a sensible top, middle and entry option without wading through near-identical bats.

One tip worth repeating: heavier willow is less prone to damage, lighter willow gives faster bat speed, and no two clefts are the same. Always choose a bat on how it picks up in your hands, not on its scale weight.

Juniors and Small Adult

Batting gloves

The top gloves in each range share the serious hardware: fibre reinforced protection (FRP) and fibre inserts across the fingers, three side bars, a split thumb, an airflow gusset and a dual-sided sweatband. The Spliit and Pearla Players gloves add a split-finger design and a Pittard leather palm for extra flexibility and feel, the Xlite L.E. also uses Pittard leather, Blak Players pairs a sheep leather palm with multiflex pre-curved fingers, and Cynos uses cotton-filled sausage fingers. Further down each range, the numbered gloves move to lighter foam and PVC while keeping the pre-curved shape.

Batting leg guards

At the top, the Blak pads use cane construction with Reinforced Knee Protection (a TPU insert, gel and high-density foam), extended side wings and a premium PU face, with reverse cane construction at the top of the range. Pearla pads run traditional cane with tri-section shin bolsters that wrap around the leg. Spliit and Xlite pads combine cane rods with cotton-filled knee rolls, with ambidextrous seven-cane models further down.
